Introduction to Miniature Ultrasonic Smart Water Meters
I. Working Principle of Miniature Ultrasonic Water Meters
The miniature ultrasonic non-valve water meter primarily uses the "Time-of-Flight" (TOF) method to measure flow velocity.
A pair or multiple pairs of ultrasonic transducers (transmitters and receivers) are installed inside the water meter, symmetrically positioned at a certain angle on both sides of the pipe.
The ultrasonic wave travels faster in the direction of water flow (sound speed + water flow velocity) and slower against the water flow (sound speed - water flow velocity). By measuring the time difference (ΔT) between the two directions, the water flow velocity (V) is calculated.
Combined with the pipe cross-sectional area (A), the instantaneous flow rate Q = V × A is obtained, and then integrated over time to obtain the cumulative water volume.
